KNOW YOUR BED LINENS: PRODUCT SIZING

When purchasing linens for your yacht it is very important to know the exact size of your mattress and duvet inner to ensure you get the sizing correct so that is fits the bed. A king size bed in the UK is different to European king size and USA king size. This helps as a quick reference guide but we always recommend you don’t assume the size of your mattresses and duvets but rather measure them yourself.

Our friends at Heirlooms Linens (https://heirlooms-linens.com) have provided us with a guide on how to measure beds when purchasing linens.

Fitted Sheets and Mattress Protectors 

Width of the mattress + depth (x2) plus tuck under each side plus 15cm (x2) each side plus shrinkage allowance = size of overall sheet. 

Flat Top Sheets 

Width of the mattress plus depth x each side plus around 25-30cm each side. 

Duvet Covers 

Size should be width of the matress + depth (x2) plus at least another 5cm each side so that the duvet cover is below the mattress base and topper. You can add a 7cm oxford border to create the additional depth. As standard, we allow a 30cm gap between the header and start of the duvet. 

Pillowcases 

Beds over 180cm wide tend to have King pillowcases, measuring 50x90cm each excluding the border. Beds 180cm and under have standard size pillowcases, 50x75cm excluding borders or country equivalent. The width of two pillows should not be more than the width of the beds.
